DPT trip report. DPT Information DPT = N,N-Dipropyltryptamine or Dipropyltryptamin or 3-[2-(dipropylamino)ethyl]indole. CHEMICAL FORMULA C16H24N2 DPT is a synthetic tryptamine most similar in nature to DMT. It is weakly active orally, and active inhaled, insufflated (snorted), and IM(intra-muscular). Legal info: U.S. FEDERAL LEGAL STATUS U.S. FEDERAL LEGAL STATUS CLASSIFICATION Hallucinogen LEGAL STATUS Uncontrolled SCHEDULE Unscheduled DPT is not federally scheduled in the U.S. There is some question as to whether perhaps the analog act would render possession and use of DPT illegal, but as far as we know, there has been nobody arrested or prosecuted under the Analog Act for possession or sale of DPT. INTERNATIONAL Belgium: DPT is listed as a controlled substance in Belgium's most restrictive category (approximately equivilant to US schedule II) REPORT 14th May 2001 Summary: DPT insufflated 20.8 mg followed half an hour later by 23.00 mg 1.6 ml of GBL 10 mins after second dose followed by one bong hit of salvia 20 mins later Erowid suggests 5-25mg as a threshold dose though we felt that Erowid's recommended "light" dose of 5-10mg for threshold experiences with 5-MEO-DIPT is too high & should be closer to 5mg considering the effects the noted doses had on A & C. Nevertheless, I decided to snort a 20.8 mg measurement of DPT initially & then follow Erowid’s advice & have more if little happened half an hour later. The first thing I noticed about DPT was how little was needed for a dose. Accurate measuring equipment is needed if one is to experiment with any consistency. The powder is fine, off-white and has a chemical smell. Use a mirror as a base to rest the powder on. It is smooth and makes seeing the powder easier. A short straw is enough to snort through. The first dose was snorted at around 8.50pm, & it was the first time I’ve snorted anything before. Insufflation was unpleasant the first time I tried it. Unused to inhaling powder into my nose, it took several different trips to get the speed and strength of the inhalation to a comfortable level. Inhaling too fast and hard causes a burning sensation and a very strong drip. Too slow and soft means much of the DPT will stay in the front of the nose, caught in the hair, and not absorbed. It was an unpleasant sensation - more so than having water run up your nose & the first half-hour was accompanied by a blocked-nostril sensation & a terrible tasting drip that tasted worse than it medical-chemical smell. Drinking fruit juice didn’t really help & it felt like there was a blob of something on my soft palate between back of nose & top of throat. I was assured this was normal, and it was worth it. As is usual for me when I experience any new substance I was excited & on a constant look-out for tell-tale signs. Little happened for the next half-hour other than the nose-throat unpleasantness & a slow gathering increase in body-static or “jitters”. Hand tremors weren’t to bad & I had a slight intuition that there was something a little odd happening in my visual field, but so little that I hesitate to record it. As time wore on I felt that nothing much would happen this evening. The time was about 9.30pm by the time I’d had my second dose. Though the nasal unpleasantness was residing I realised I would have to increase it again. Never mind. The blocked feeling was much worse & was in both nostrils & for a time I felt like I had a cold. I smoked a big cone each from fine dried home-grown (amazingly our plant has survived 2 UK winters) about 10 mins after we finished our gamma. It was around 10pm & I noticed vague visual disturbances which intensified over the next 30 mins. The visual experience was much like 2 average LSD trips without the sensual/sexual feeling - the hallucinations were pixelated (we sat in lamp & candle light) compromising of the colours red, green & pink. For a while too pen & ink drawings by an artist friend of Cs sparked into colourful, pixeled life. They are both very strange drawings, indescribable because of their Escher-esq perspectives & Surreal & Symbolist stylings. One of them contained many eyes which sizzled into colour & swirled around. When I turned my head & looked at the PC screen I saw those eyes, in a serpentine swirl. The picture was frame by an electrified pink/green line. However, these visual disturbances were not very bright & no where near solid or immersing like Salvia. They were vague & a bit disappointing, though I wasn’t expecting much anyway. The Salvia was pleasant, but didn’t take me to another world. We played beautiful music to come down to - it had the clarity of the sound emphasising the cleanliness of the come-down (at around 11pm). There was so sweating or bad taste/smell like with LSD & no feeling that ones vision had been scoured leaving residue distortions. Vision was completely restored to normal and I had no trouble sleeping. DPT trip report 2 - 18th May Summary: DPT insufflated 39.7 mg followed 45 mins later by 20.00 mg My second trip with DPT was just as unpleasant nasally. The drip & blockage were just as foul & I can’t imagine doing more of it. The DPT was insufflated at 9.15pm. I chatted with C & A & we listened to music. The effects this time were speedy, with virtually nothing in the visual field. My leg bounced up & down totally off beat to the music & if I stopped it my whole body jittered. I had a significant trembling in my hands & my body felt occasionally shivery with the intensity of the body static. At 10.00pm, just as the drip had gone 7 my nose had unblocked I forced myself to have more - something must happen other than this! But no, it was not to be. By 11.30 or 12 I was down & feeling totally normal. Nothing other than jitters to report, what a shame. I have two theories. One is in line with my trpt. hard-headedness, DPT just isn’t as affective to me than to others. The other is that a possible tolerance could have developed, much in the same way that one becomes tolerant to LSD very quickly. If I’d have given more time between my first & second trip I might have had more of an experience. Because of how close they were, my body may have put up resistance. Still, this second trip was much more physically stimulating than last time, so these kinds of doses might have their uses. I’ve tried DPT several times, each time in company and for pleasure. Various memories stick in my mind from these other occasions:
Body static (or body load, a sense of jitters and discomfort) was mild. Once the blocked sensation in the nose and throat drip had gone, static didn’t really interfere with the experience. My thinking wasn’t much affected, and neither were emotions or senses other than vision. Eating was enjoyable (but no more than usual) and helped get rid of the drip. A friend has reported some enjoyable aural experiences (music slowing down) and strong hallucinations. All hallucinations are based on whatever is there – nothing solid and independent has been seen. The active imagination of the user enhances any distortions perceived (as I expect is the case with most psychedelics). In all DPT is a very easy trip in the range of the doses specified. No psychological or sensory unpleasantness and plenty of visual activity. Sociability was unimpaired, so DPT at parties would be fun. This is the easiest psychedelic to handle for me. GBL provides an easy inroad and outroad to the experience. I was surprised that the taste of GBL was almost obscured by the drip - they seemed to neutralise each other to the point that I was sipping the gamma like tea as opposed to try & gulp it down as quickly as possible. This is when I realised I was going up. It was subtle at first - as first times for me often are, I’m never sure what I’m looking out for. Gamma has often helped A open the door into psychedelic experiences & this was no exception. No hangover was experienced, and coming down is painless.
